We played Pandemic at Compulsory Merriment last week. We know. You’re tired of hearing the word but it’s a very fun game! Pandemic is a cooperative game where your opponent is a set of diseases that constantly threaten to break out of control. You either all win together or …splat. Farewell cruel world!
The board looks like a map with lines connecting major cities. Colored cubes, representing infection, are placed on a city when the city’s card is turned over. Each player has a role with special skills and you really have to use those skills and collaborate because more cities get infected on every turn.
You can scale the difficulty up and down with the use of “Epidemic” cards. You can cure all the diseases and still lose– which is exactly what happened in our game. But, win or lose, Pandemic is a fun, tense, fast game with lots of scheming and player interaction.
